Process for Lingerie Making for Bespoke clients
At the first meeting (which can also be a “virtual meeting” by Skype) we will discuss measurements and discuss preferred styles and fabrics. We can explore through my extensive range of fabrics, laces and co-ordinating elastics/ strapping details. We can also try on samples from my collection to assess styles and sizes that might suit. Oftentimes women even with the same cup sizes, have different requirements for the upper cup volume, and the height of the upper cup.
I will then make a pattern for this, and a first draft bra for fitting. This first draft may not be exact to specifications, but can be used for the second draft to ensure fit. If a pattern from another designer has been chosen at the first meeting, there will be an additional purchase cost to purchase the pattern for the client from the designer. (Approx $20)
The second draft is then made, to client specifications.
Cost for the first bra with all fitting to the completely fitting second draft is $350 (or $300 if the original draft works well).
A $50.00 deposit (approx. cost of materials) will be required to commence drafting/construction.
Additional bras made using this final pattern there after are $300. This includes the cost of detailed construction hours and quality materials. Tulle bras, and silk satin construction will cost slightly more, due to the extra time involved. If some luxury laces, or luxury findings ( velvet elastic, luxury hardware etc) are chosen these may also require an additional cost, which will be discussed before construction begins.
Likewise bralettes may be slightly less costly, as there is less construction time involved.
Minimum time for completion to the final second draft will usually be four weeks, or less time if the first draft fits well.
I enjoy the process of ensuring client satisfaction, and as such, welcome gentle constructive comments on the process.
Underwear:
A similar process however oftentimes, the pattern can be chosen by trying on sample garments within my range
Cost for basic underwear is $50, and $85 where lace is used for the back details (which gives a much better line under clothing).
Swimwear/ Sleepwear:
A similar process, however, if a bra and underwear pattern have previously been made, these are easily adapted to swimwear and so the complete garment cost is usually for construction only, and as such will be about $350 for a matching set. This also allows for quality construction and materials. There may be an additional cost for designer printed recycled nylon, as this is more expensive to purchase. Some smaller sized bikinis require less work and may not be as costly. These cost changes will be discussed prior to beginning of construction.
Payment:
Full payment is required for collection of the final garment. This can be by PayPal, EFT or by credit card to my Square Point of sale system ( which I operate from my phone)
